When I take you into my arms,
The many years ahead of us,
Flash before me in an almost agonising succession,
Visions consecrated by love,
Haunted by occasional bitterness and rivalry.
Will you outgrow the loving warmth of my embrace
As the candle of days melts into years,
And the fire of life begins to extinguish?
From pimples to wrinkles,
Fantasies to reality,
Ignorance to knowledge,
I shall guide you through the path of light,
Now and forever,
The way I should.
But for now,
I shall regard you the way I do,
The newborn thief,
Who’s stolen my mom from me!

Written for Sadjeβs WDYS Prompt
A wonderful interpretation of the prompt Sam, and I especially loved these lines ..
” Will you outgrow the loving warmth of my embrace
As the candle of days melts into years,”

You had Mom AND Dad all to yourself until this happenedβ¦ Youβre talking as a big sister. What a clever twist. I absolutely love it.
Because now youβre not the sole recipient of their attention and for now, they are gaga over the little addition. But you see what the fuss is about. This novelty has made your heart grow inches. I just love it and know you will be ok. Good for you π perfectly done.
Thanks for sharing. (That was my take on this) excellent!!

Time flies, also love multipliesπ
Little bundle of joy adds more love into the family, parent’s love multiplies into two not divides into two,
love always multipliesπ
Only time and attention , is a challenge ,
Dear Sam all these aspects touched and felt , I loved your wisdomππ

Oh, wow, I love that formula! Love always multiplies, doesnβt divide. So wonderfully put! Very wisely said, as always.

Another absolutely beautiful poem! Love the unexpected ending. Made me recall something one of my teachers once said: “usually, the longest-lasting relationship a person will have is with their sibling(s)”

Oh that is sooo true, isnβt it? We have them with us longer than parents and definitely longer than people who come later in life.

What a beautiful poem. I love it, especially the line “the candle of days melts into years”. You have so much love in your heart that I almost want to be there to be part of your loving picture of life. You make me feel young again, as young and fresh and vivacious as “Anne of Green Gables”, which was my favorite show many years ago.

Anne of Green Gables π My favourite too! Do you know where I can watch the 1985 and 1987 versions? Also the 2000 version (Anne of Green Gables: The continuing story) in case you know? Iβm sooo dying to watch them.

Hahaha, I wish I know. There seems to be the 2016 version only on Amazon Prime. The previous versions are all gone.

Gone? π¦ Donβt say that! Itβs a literal masterpiece.
Thereβs an option to get jt online from its official site, but itβs a bit too expensive in Indian rupees.
